Golf is a game of integrity and sportsmanship. While knowing the official rules is important, understanding golf etiquette is essential for a pleasant experience for everyone. Here are some key points for beginners.
Pace of Play
This is perhaps the most important part of etiquette. Keep up with the group in front of you. If you fall behind, let faster groups play through. Be ready to hit when it's your turn.
Care for the Course
- Bunkers: Always rake bunkers after you've hit out of them, leaving them smooth for the next player.
- Divots: Repair your divots on the fairway. Most courses provide a sand/seed mix to fill the hole.
- Greens: Repair your pitch marks on the green. An unrepaired pitch mark can take weeks to heal.
Safety and Consideration
Never swing your club until you are sure that others in your group are at a safe distance. Do not hit your ball until the group in front is out of range. Also, try to stay quiet and still while others are hitting. For more tips check out our blog and guides.
By following these simple guidelines, you'll show respect for the game, the course, and your fellow players.
